Shirley May Rusher

May 15, 1937 - March 25, 2021

Shirley May Rusher, 83, passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth at 9:05 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

Born May 15, 1937 in Carol City, Indiana, Shirley was the daughter of Forest Cree and Thelma May (Edgerley) Ronk. Her family made Plymouth their home when she was about 5 years old. She would graduate from West High School.

On July 16, 1976 in Plymouth, Shirley married Willard “Ed” Edwin Rusher.

Along with raising her two daughters, Shirley worked for NISCO in Bremen for 13 years before her retirement in 2004.

A very talented seamstress, Shirley made her daughter’s wedding dresses and six dresses for her nieces’ weddings. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and gardening.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Jeffery) Robinson of Plymouth and Tammie (Jerry) Conn of Tippecanoe; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; siblings: Bill Lee (Karen) Ronk and Peggy (Mike) Perdue; and brother-in-law, John Kuhn.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Rusher, sister Patsy Kuhn and her parents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 17, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Visitation will be held prior from 11-1 p.m.

Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, 46240, Humane Society of Marshall Co, PO Box 22, Plymouth, IN 46563. Kindred Hospice 1476 W. 18th Street, Rochester, IN 46975 or the American Legion Post 27 1040 E. Jefferson Street, Plymouth, IN 46563.

PLEASE NOTE: For your protection, the entire funeral home staff will wear masks. It is mandated that family members and their guests do so as well.
