Sister Marlene Ardelean

Sister Marlene Ardelean, 90, died at 11:27 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2005, in St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago, Ind.. She had been a resident of the Catherine Kasper Home since her retirement in 2002.

She was born in Aurora, Illinois, on October 6, 1914, the daughter of George and Mary Istrovan Adelean.

Sister Marlene was a dedicated primary teacher from 1934 until her retirement. She taught at St. Vincent Villa, Fort Wayne, Ind.; St. Boniface School, Germantown, Ill.; St. Mark’s School, Gary, Ind.; St. Augustine School, Chicago, Ill.; St. Ann’s School, Black Oak, Ind.; St. Augustine School, Hecker, Ill.; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Hesville, Ind. and St. Catherine of Siena, Hammond. Ind..

She is survived by a sister, Sister Lucille Ardelean of Donaldson, Ind., two brothers: George Ardelean of Huntsville AL. and Ted Ardelean of Sarasota, FL., along with a sister-in-law, Anita Ardelean of Hammond, Ind. and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2005, in the Catherine Kasper Home Chapel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2005, in the Catherine Kasper Home Chapel. The Reverand Father Edward Konerman, S.J., will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson.

Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, Ind., is in charge of the arrangements.
