Sister Patricia Peters PHJC, (formerly Sister Brendan) age 85, passed away June 27, 2026, at Catherine’s Cottage, Donaldson, Indiana. Parents Alphonse and Helen, and brothers James and Francis, welcomed Pat to the Peters Family on January 8, 1941, in Breese, IL. Later, two sisters, Mary and Judy, and three brothers, Bernard, Walter and David joined the family. Sister Patricia is survived in death by her two sisters, and five brothers. Sr. Patricia entered the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ Community on August 22, 1959, and professed her first vows on August 22, 1962.
Sr. Patricia received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Alverno College, Milwaukee, WI and a Masters in Elementary Education from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, IN. She ministered as an elementary teacher at St. John School, Quincy, IL, St. Ann School and St. Mark School, Gary, IN, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Hammond, IN, St. Henry School, Chicago, IL, St. Mary School, East Chicago, IN, St. Bavo School, and St. Joseph School in Mishawaka, IN, and St. Martin of Tours, East St. Louis, IL.
After ten years of teaching, Sr. Patricia was appointed Director of Purchasing at PHJC Ministry Center, Donaldson, IN. During this time, she became interested in knowing more about computer technology. She took several computer courses at DeVry University, Chicago, IL. Following this education, she became the manager for Computer Services at PHJC Ministry Center and began the “IT Department” at The Center at Donaldson for over 15 years.
In 2016, Sr. Patricia began using her computer skills to help develop a digitized system of tracking pictures and artifacts in the Archives. After seven years of this service, Sr. Patricia retired to Catherine’s Cottage in November 2023.
