Sister Elise Honkoski, 83 of the Poor Hand Maids of Jesus Christ (P.H.J.C.), died at 10:50 P.M. on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 in the Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson. Born in Gary , Indiana on January 16, 1919 she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Yukinya Honkoski. She entered the convent in June of 1937 and professed her first vows on June 26, 1939. As her primary ministry in life, Sister Elise took great pride in educating the youth. Sister taught the higher grades in the Parochial schools for 54 years. Sister taught in Indiana at St. Joseph School , Mishawaka , St. Mary School , East Chicago , Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Hammond , Indiana and St. Mark and Blessed Sacrament, Gary , Indiana In Chicago , Sister Elise walked the halls at Angel Guardian and St. Augustine School . June of 1993, Sister Elise retired to the Catherine Kasper Home. She is survived by a brother, Joseph (Betty) Honkoski, Lake Station , Indiana , and a sister, Ann (Lou) Mikula, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Friday November 22, 2002 , in the Catherine Kasper Home. A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Father Ed J. Konerman S.J. and Father William Kummer, St. Michael Catholic Church, Plymouth, Indiana, will be held in the Catherine Kasper Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 23, 2002. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery , Donaldson , Indiana .
