Sue taught piano lessons for 32 years. She also played organ and piano for Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home and Van Gilder Funeral Home for over 50 years. Music meant so much to Sue than she accompanied almost all of her grandchildren on solos and musical ensembles, and encouraged every grandchild to take an interest in playing a musical instrument.
She was a Tri Kappa Member and past President of the Associate Chapter. She was the Parade Grand Marshall for the 1995 Blueberry Festival Parade, walking the entire way in heels. Sue, alongside Jenny Greenlee, were the original coordinators of Meals on Wheels in Plymouth for 32 years; back when meals only cost $0.65.
