Susan B. Kubley

December 7, 1957 — December 17, 2016

Susan B. Kubley, 59, passed away following an illness, at her Lawrence Lake home early Saturday afternoon with a loving family at her side. Her first diagnosis with cancer came in 2008. With determination and a strong will she overcame it and enjoyed a fulfilling life until its most recent return. She now enjoys the peace a loving Savior has promised us.

Susan was born on December 7, 1957 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Louis J. and Mildred I. (Zahm) Bernero. She was raised in Marshall County and attended Plymouth High School her freshman and sophomore years where she met her future spouse Rod S. Kubley. The family moved to Florida where she graduated in 1976 from Bishop Verot High School in Ft. Myers. Returning to Indiana she earned a degree in Speech Pathology from Ball State University in 1980. On September 10, 1983 in Plymouth Sue and Dr. Rod S. Kubley were married. They became the parents of two children; James L. and Rachel K. She enjoyed being a working mother at various public school systems where the couple resided before making Plymouth their permanent home. She was a volunteer in the community, had served on the Plymouth School Board and was involved in caring ministries of Crossroads Church.

Surviving family members are her husband Rod, son James L. Kubley and his fiancé Keri Pederson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, daughter Rachel K. and spouse Shaun Johnston of Mishawaka, Indiana, a brother Dr. John R. Bernero and Janet of Plymouth, a sister Mary M. Chamberlin-Gilliam and spouse Henry Gilliam of Charleston, South Carolina and her mother-in-law Katherine Kubley of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21st from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Crossroads Church, located at 1650 N. Oak Road, Plymouth.

A Celebration of Susan Kubley’s life will be held on Thursday, December 22nd at 11 a.m. in the church with Pastor Scott Yoder officiating.

Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Immediately following the burial, a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall of Crossroads Church.
