
Thelma Ruth Newcomb, 96, a lifetime Plymouth resident, died at 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Thelma was born Thelma Ruth Kyser in Plymouth on May 27, 1915 to Ora E. and Ethel Troutman Kyser. She was a 1934 graduate of Lincoln High School, Plymouth.
On July 4, 1936, in her parent’s yard, Thelma and Darrell B. Newcomb were married. Darrell preceded her in death on February 23, 1973.
Thelma was a devoted wife and mother for many years. When her children were grown, she worked at the Plymouth License Branch, the Plymouth Monument Works and Patten Monuments. She was in her 80’s when she retired from the business world.
Thelma enjoyed many interests and hobbies. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She loved to travel and had been all over the United States as well as trips abroad. She especially enjoyed Europe, the pyramids of Egypt and the Holy Land.
She was a member of the First United Methodist of Plymouth for over 80 years.
Thelma is survived by a daughter, Chris Miller of Warsaw: a son, Bill (Barb) Newcomb of Crawfordsville: a grandson, five granddaughters, seven great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters, two great-great-grandsons and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Bill E. Kyser and an infant sister, Dorothy Kyser. A son-in-law, Lonzo Miller and twin great-granddaughters have preceded her as well.
Funeral services for Thelma will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street Plymouth, Indiana, with calling two hours prior. The Rev. Larry Marhanka will officiate.
Burial will follow in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
