Obituary

Theresa L. Shook, 58, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, following a brief illness. Born on Christmas Day in 1967 in Valparaiso, Indiana, Theresa was the daughter of Jay and Shirley (Webb) Shook.

A 1986 graduate of Plymouth High School, Theresa dedicated much of her career to caring for others through her work in healthcare. She held various positions at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth, working in the laboratory and as a medical assistant. She later joined Life Line Stem Cell and was pursuing plans to establish her own venture in stem cell procurement.

Faith and family were the foundations upon which Theresa built her life. A lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church, she was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, allowing it to guide her decisions, shape her relationships, and influence the way she cared for others. Her faith was not simply something she practiced, but something she lived each day. Alongside her loving partner, Lowell Black, Theresa continued to grow even more in her faith.

Above all, Theresa treasured her family and the memories they created together. She had a remarkable gift for making even the simplest occasions feel extraordinary. Whether preparing a family gathering, creating the perfect gift, or adding her own thoughtful touches to a celebration, Theresa poured her heart into everything she did. She believed the little details mattered because the people she loved mattered most.

Perhaps no time of year reflected Theresa's spirit more than Christmas. Born on Christmas Day, she embraced the holiday with a special enthusiasm, filling it with traditions, laughter, and time spent together. From baking sweet treats alongside her mother to watching Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life, Theresa cherished the familiar traditions that brought her family close. Her greatest joy was never found in the gifts beneath the tree, but in the people gathered around it.

One of Theresa's most treasured roles was being "Nana" to her grandchildren. She delighted in the time they shared and found immeasurable happiness in watching them grow. The love she had for her children and grandchildren was evident in the countless ways she made each of them feel special.

Theresa also enjoyed life's simpler pleasures. She could often be found canning homemade strawberry jam, ketchup, or pickles. An avid history enthusiast and patriot, she loved learning about the American Revolution and visiting historical destinations, including the Freedom Trail. She also enjoyed trips to Gatlinburg and treasured time spent near the water, whether along the sunny beaches of Florida or the shores of Lake Michigan.

Beautiful both inside and out, Theresa had a bold, lively personality and a wonderful sense of humor. Her laughter was infectious, her smile unforgettable, and her generous spirit knew no limits. She was selfless in the way she loved, often placing the needs and happiness of others before her own. Theresa leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, treasured family traditions, and a love that will continue to be felt for generations.

Theresa's memory will be cherished by her children, Jennifer Knapp (Jared Jacobs), Libby (Steven) Maloney, Jared Knapp, Jordan Knapp (Stephanie Gorka), and Scott Quardokus; grandchildren, Ashton, Charlotte, Lexington, and Benjamin; siblings, Tammy (John) Dominiack, Mike (Georjeta) Shook, and David (Julie) Shook; step-mother, Donna Shook; step-siblings, Rich (Marianne) Zeigler and Lynette (Mike) Swint; many nieces and nephews; along with her partner, Lowell Black.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026 from 5-7PM at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Rosary will be recited at 7PM.
