It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas "Tom" Louring Loeffler, age 88, of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Plymouth, Indiana, who passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Tom was born on May 5, 1938, in Plymouth, Indiana, to Henry H. and Ila Mae Loeffler. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1956 and soon thereafter answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably from September 1956 until July 1959. He was a proud lifelong resident of Plymouth, until retiring to the sunshine state of Florida.
On June 22, 1974, Tom married the love of his life, Jeanette Stanage, in Niles, Michigan. Together they shared more than 52 years of marriage.
Tom dedicated 44 years of his career to the railroad, working primarily as a Signal Maintainer before retiring in 2003.
Above all, Tom was a devoted family man. He loved his family wholeheartedly and took great pride in every generation that followed him. He cherished time spent with loved ones, treasured lifelong friendships, and was known for his great sense of humor and kind heart. Whether cheering on Notre Dame Women's Basketball, keeping active through exercise and workouts, enjoying the warmth of the Florida sun, or watching classic westerns, Tom found joy in life's simple pleasures.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette Loeffler; his children, Mark (Oletta) Loeffler and Stephanie Gemmer; his stepson, Douglas Stanage; his grandchildren, Samantha (Mike) Maurovich, Shelby Kelly, Madison (Howard) Borton, Tionne Stanage, and Douglas Stanage II; and nine cherished great-grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry H. and Ila Mae Loeffler; his brother, Robert Loeffler; and his stepson, Jeff Stanage.
Tom will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
"The righteous man walks in his integrity; blessed are his children after him." Proverbs 20:7
