Tim Pearson, 97, went home with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones at the Center for Hospice Care, Mishawaka.
Born on March 21, 1925 in Troy, Ohio, he was the son of Charles and Eunice (Pierce) Pearson. He attended West Milton High School, graduating with the class of 1942. Tim received his Bachelor’s degree in education from Bethel University and a Master’s degree in education from Indiana University South Bend. He taught in the South Bend School corporation for 26 years. He also went to Oregon Bible School. He served as Head Pastor for over 25 years at several churches. He then served as Assistant Pastor at North Salem Church of God in Plymouth.
On June 14, 1975, he married Shirley DeMien in Plymouth, Indiana. They shared 47 wonderful years of marriage together.
Tim was very active in church. He also enjoyed singing with a gospel quartet, reading, woodworking, playing golf, and traveling. He hiked the Grand Canyon twice, once alone and again with his father-in-law, Walter. Tim seemed to always find his way to McDonald’s to have coffee with the guys. His most cherished memories were spending time with family and doing the work of the Lord. He always wanted to be known as the “Peacemaker.” (Matthew 5:9 and Malachi 3:16,17)
He is survived by his wife Shirley of Plymouth; children Jackie (Dennis) Meredith of AZ, Marc (Beth) Pearson of OK, brother in-law Glen DeMien, sister in-law Virginia DeMien, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 2-3 pm at Timberland Bible Church, 16623 IN-23, South Bend, IN 46635. A Celebration of Life will begin at 3 pm with Bob Collier officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Center for Hospice Care, Raclin House, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Mr. Pearson was my 4th grade teacher at Greene Elementary. It was my first year at a public school following 4 years at a private school. He was the perfect teacher for that transition. One of the best teachers I ever had!
Prayers to your family-

Mr. Pearson was my 5th grade teacher at Pierre Navarre. I remember his kind heart and easy way about him. I also remember him bringing in his then fiancé, Shirley, to meet the class. I can still remember the excitement he had introducing her to us and about the engagement. Back then, the age difference seemed crazy yet all these years later to know she survives him is wonderful. My sympathies and healing goes to his family.
