Obituary

Vincent Stephen Carnegie Sr., a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, father, grandfather, and friend, was called to his eternal resting place on September 4, 2026. We take comfort in knowing that the Lord was with him during his darkest hour of passing.

Stephen entered this world on November 6, 1987, and lived a life marked by both challenges and beautiful moments. His struggles were only one part of his story. He was an incredibly artistic soul who had a unique way of expressing himself and seeing the world. His creativity was a gift that reflected the depth and individuality of his spirit.

Above all, Stephen loved his children. They held an important place in his heart and in his life, and the love he had for them will forever remain part of his legacy. He also took pride in his work and enjoyed staying busy and being productive.

To those who called him a friend, Stephen was known for his loyalty. He had a special way of connecting with people, and many will remember him as someone who stood by those he cared about.

Stephen's life reminds us that a person cannot be defined by their hardest days. Beyond his struggles was a son who was deeply loved, a father who cherished his children, a brother who was part of a large and loving family, an artist with a creative spirit, and a loyal friend to many.

Stephen is survived by his mother, Angelique Merfeld (Brian); his father, Vincent Simone Carnegie (Kristy); his sisters, Keshia Williams (Mark), Paschina Weedling (Tim), Katlin Weidner, and Lisa Carnegie (Chris); his brothers, Michael Carnegie, Matthew Mahaska, and Ethan Keller; his children, Adriana Carnegie (Jameer), Saige Carnegie, Vincent Carnegie Jr., Bentley Carnegie, Ariella Carnegie, and Ryver Carnegie; his granddaughter, Nova Gary; his grandfather, Jerome Palmitessa; his grandmother, Georgia Shez; his aunts, Theresa Palmitessa-Wright (Dwayne), Nicola Palmitessa, Electra Fasching, and Sandra Jamerson; and his uncles, Poaolo Palmitessa (Alicia), Zachary Shez (Morgan), and Samuel Carnegie and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Victoria Carnegie-Palmitessa; his grandfather, Clinton Sanders Sr.; his grandmother, Elvira Sanders; his uncles, Victor Carnegie, Clinton Sanders Jr., Bryan Guthrie and AJ Fasching; and his aunts, Beverly Ford and Debbie Baughman.

As Stephen's family and friends mourn his passing, may they find comfort in the words of Psalm 34:18: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m., at The Church of the Heartland, located at 705 East Jefferson Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563.

Memorial donations in his honor may go to: The Plymouth Wesleyan Church specifically to Celebrate Recovery, 11203 Michigan Rd, Plymouth, IN 46563 and The Adult Teen Challenge, 1111 W. Bristol Street, Elkhart, IN 46514.
