Vincent R. Moore

Vincent R. “Red” Moore, 90, 316 Klinger St., Plymouth, died at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, in the Pilgrim Manor Care Center.

Born in Plymouth, Ind., on June 22, 1914, Vincent was the son of John E. and Louise T. (Nagel) Moore He graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1933.

Married to Lizzie F. Ham on May 30, 1937, in the rectory of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, the couple had two children.

The tall, friendly redhead, nicknamed “Red,” worked for Montgomery Wards in Plymouth for over 25 years as in retail sales and as a manager. His career also included serving as a sales representative for a New York children’s apparel company.

He lived in Plymouth for many years before moving to Mission, Texas. He also enjoyed his summer home in Wisconsin on the back waters of the Mississippi River from 1978 to 1991. He returned to his Plymouth home just a year ago.

Sports lover of all kinds he was admittedly a Cubs fan.

Red was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, Plymouth, Ind.

Red is survived by his wife, Lizzie F. Moore, Plymouth, their daughter and her husband, Jo Ann and Henry Stukenborg and his five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Grandchildren are: Stephen (Kathleen) Stukenborg, Mountain View, Calif, Theresa (James) Coonan, Fort Wayne, Ind., Mark (Sara) Stukenborg, Clemmons, N.C., Henry John (Charity) Stukenborg, Tampa, Fla. and James Stukenborg, Cincinnati, Ohio.

A brother, George (Joda) Moore, Richmond, Ind., and a sister, Mary Deckard, of Plymouth, also survive.

Red was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John W. Moore and a sister, Dorothy Moore.

The family of Red Moore will welcome visitors to celebrate Red’s life in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 611 N. Center St., Plymouth, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2005.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Father William J. Kummer, pastor of the church.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
