Violet Schoof

February 21, 1921 - May 3, 2014

Violet Schoof, 93, a Plymouth resident for over 20 years, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.
Born in LaPorte, Indiana on February 21, 1921, Violet May was the daughter of Otto and Amanda (Machel) Bass. She was the middle child of three daughters. She graduated from Tyner High School. On January 31, 1946 in Daytona Beach, Florida, Violet married Richard Schoof after a lengthy pen pal relationship while Richard was stationed overseas. He would precede her in death on July 14, 1994.
Violet was a housewife with a love of “collectables”. She had many collections she was very proud of. She also enjoyed selling antiques at local flea markets. Violet was a member of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by sons Tommy Ray (Rhonda) Schoof and Craig (Diana) Schoof, both of Plymouth. Three grandchildren David (Jennifer) Schoof and Kyle (Andrea) Schoof both of Plymouth and Krista Schoof of Indianapolis, and one great-grand child Jared Schoof. She was also preceded by her parents, sisters Evelyn Schoof and Bernice Jensen, Daughter-in-Law, Susie (Tommy) Schoof. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. EDT on Friday, May 16, 2014 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the Patton Cemetery, 1401 Rumley Street, LaPorte. Pastor Oliver Dongell of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church will officiate.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Catherine Kasper Life Center, 9601 Union Rd. P.O. Box 1, Donaldson, IN 46513, the Center for Hospice Care 112 S. Center St. Plymouth, IN 46563 or Plymouth Wesleyan Church, 11203 Michigan Road, Plymouth, IN 46563.
