Wanda L. Overmyer

Wanda L. Overmyer, 73, of 306 N. Maple St., Argos, Ind., died at 6:21 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2004, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. Wanda died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Benton, Ill., on February 2, 1931, Wanda was the daughter of Isadore Charles and Caroline Yasevich Brandibas. She attended High School in Gary, Ind., graduated from Thomas Commerical School in South Bend, Ind, from the secretarial program.

On May 20, 1951, in the Old Time Religion Tabernacle in Plymouth, Wanda and Lloyd Overmyer, Jr., an ordained minister, were married. Lloyd died on February 20, 1999.

She first worked for the Indiana Bell Telephone Company in the directory and ads department and was a long distance operator for ten years, resigning to become a housewife. Wanda loved her children and grandchildren very much; she enjoyed being a homemaker, and enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing.

Wanda had a lovely voice and sang in duets and trios. She sang solos with quartets and choirs since she was ten years old.

A devoted Christian, she was a Ladies Auxiliary leader for four years with the Old Time Religion Tabernacle and a Sunday school teacher for several years. She spent her entire life attending United Pentecostal churches because she believed ACTS 2: verses 38 and 39 and all Gods promises.

Wanda is survived by two sons, a daughter and their families. They are: Timothy L. and Kimberly S. Overmyer, Argos, Ind., and their children, Jennifer and Emily; Philip A. and Lynn Overmyer, also of Argos and their children, Kathy and Ben and Valerie K. Leachman, South Bend and her children, Chase and Chandler.

Her parents, her husband, an infant daughter and four infant sons and a sister, Clara Jean Wuscina, preceded Wanda in death.

A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held in the House of Prayer United Pentecostal Church, 12450 Plymouth-Goshen Trail, Plymouth, on Tuesday, December 7, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m. and calling one hour prior to services in the church on Wednesday.

Wednesday, December 8, 2004, services will be held in the church at 11 a.m. The Pastor R.D. Humphrey, pastor of the House of Prayer and the Rev. Kenneth Mendenhall, pastor of the Ironwood United Pentecostal Church, South Bend, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Paul Cecrle, Rochester, Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Ind.
