Willard E. Hand

October 14, 1917 - July 25, 2004
In Memorial

A Marshall County resident all of his life, Willard E. “Bill” Hand, 86, died, at his residence, 12333 S.R. 17, Plymouth, Ind., following an illness, at 7:10 a.m., on Sunday, July 25, 2004.
Born in Bourbon, Ind., on October 14, 1917, Bill was the son of William E. and Mary E. Hand-Shumaker. He attended Bremen schools.
On the 27th of October, 1935, in Lakeville, Ind., Bill and Donna Mae Koontz were married. Donna died on June 17, 1992, after 57 years of marriage.
Bill was the foundry foreman at Bremen Castings for 41 years, retiring in 1982. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and working in the yard.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Herb Eveland, Plymouth, and by four sons. His sons are: Larry and Alice Hand of Copper Center, Alaska; Terry and Carol Hand of Wasilla, Alaska; and David Hand and Rex Hand, both of Plymouth, Ind.
Twenty grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild survive his death together with Juanita Jacobson, Plymouth, a close friend. Also surviving are a brother and three sisters: Noble Hand, Bremen; Grace Border, Phoenix, Arizona; Betty Bellman, Warsaw, Ind., and Marian Sloboda, South Bend, Ind.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers, Dale and Russell Hand.
Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from 11 to 1 p.m. in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, 1130 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, where Bill attended services.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. Dave Kerkove, pastor of the church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, Ind.
Memorial gifts in Bill’s memory may be made to the Plymouth Church of the Brethren or the Marshall County Hospice.
