William L. Schmidlapp

January 2, 1930 - June 8, 2010
In Memorial

William “Bill” Levi Schmidlapp, 9098 12the Road, Argos, IN, died of natural causes in St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
Bill was born in Piqua, Ohio, on January 2, 1930, the son of Russell and Clara Miller Schmidlapp.
He graduated from Piqua High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture at Ohio State and his Master’s degree at Purdue University in Agriculture Engineering.
He was a member of the Army and graduated from Officer Candidate School as a 2nd Lieutenant at Ft. Belvoir, Va. He was later stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.
On June 26, 1955, Bill and Carol Macy were married in Tipp City, Ohio.
At one time he taught Agriculture and was later self-employed as a construction contractor where he put-up and designed pole barns.
A very knowledgeable man, he was an avid reader.
He was a member of the Shalom Fellowship.
Bill is survived by his wife Carol, two daughters and a son. They are Alane C. Day, Sand Lake, MI., Debra A. (Len) Wiens, Snhomish, WA., and Dean W. Schmidlapp, Plymouth, IN.
Six grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Nelda Schmidlapp, Piqua, OH., also survive.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and all six of his brothers and sisters: Alice, Elva, Marie, Ethel, Herbert and Fred. A time of sharing with the family will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Indiana. A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in Bill’s name may be made to the Shalom Fellowship, 9098 12th Rd., Argos, IN. 46501.
