Wilma J. Carlisle

January 29, 1947 - February 2, 2021

Mrs. Wilma Jean Carlisle, age 94, passed way peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.  Jean was born in Bremen, Indiana, on January 29, 1927.  She married the love of her life, Delbert James Carlisle, on May 9, 1948.  He preceded her in death in 2009.  They were married for 61 years at the time.

Jean loved to play cards, board games, dominoes, arts, crafts, and camping with her family.  She and Delbert were “Snowbirds,” enjoying many winters camping in Sebring, Florida, in their motorhome.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace Stockman Wright and Harry Wright; husband, Delbert; brother, John Wright (Lucille)three sisters, Julia (Mike) Hatfield, Betty (Arnold) Lee, Kathryn (William) White and stepson, Dr. Ronald L. Carlisle.

Jean is survived by sons Wane (Melanie) Carlisle of Lithia Springs, GA., Lane Carlisle of Conyers, GA; stepdaughter Judy Carlisle McLeroy (Jim) of Tyrone, GA.; daughter-in-law, Susan Welden Carlisle (Ron) of Kennesaw, GA; two sisters, Peggy Jo Clevenger (Jim) of Plymouth, IN. and Mary Phillips (Bob) of Plymouth, IN.; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the New Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tom Lee officiating.  Burial will take place in the cemetery immediately following the service.

    Aunt Jean was the last one of my Mother and Father’s generation in the Marsh and Carlisle family. We stayed in touch as we both ended up living many years in Georgia. Sorry that I will not be there to be with her family.
